Turning The Hull
Brain vs. Brawn
On a boat of this size,
turning the hull can be
done by one person with a
little planning and
ingenuity.  Of course its
nice to have help.

Fortunately I did have a
helper.

Step 1) Find a sturdy tree.

Step 2)  Wrap a rope all
the way around the boat
once and then run the
rope through a pulley.
Hang the pulley from a
hoist..

Step 3)  Hoist the boat up.
By wrapping the rope all
the way around the boat,
you create a "sling" that
can rotate with the pulley.

The transom is
suspended from another
branch.
When most people build a
boat, they cut the transom
to its final size.  I left the
part where the motor will
go uncut.

This provided a place to
mount an eye-bolt to pivot
the hull.  This part will be
cut away after the boat is
upright.
Step 4)  Spin the hull in the
sling and pivot you have
created.
And...  Its flipped!
Step 5)  Push the trailer
back under the boat.
Nothin' to it!

This is a one-man job
with proper planning.

It is an EASY two-man job
with little exertion and no
strained muscles.  Let the
rope and the hoists do the
work.
